Email Marketing Isn't Dead... It's Just Having a Glow Up!

You’ve probably heard it before: Email is dead. Spoiler alert… it’s not!
In fact, it’s thriving. And if your business isn’t using it, you might be missing one of the simplest, most powerful ways to connect with your people.
Think about it: social media is like a busy main street. You’ve got to compete with flashing shopfronts, buskers and that person handing out free samples. Blink and
your post is gone – scrolled past in less than a second.
Email, on the other hand, is like being invited into someone’s lounge room. You’ve got their attention, no algorithm middle-man deciding if you make it through the door. It’s you and them. One-to-one.
Why Email Still Works
It lands where your people already are
Your email is far more likely to arrive than a social post is to be seen. Case in point: the DMA’s Email Benchmarking Report 2025 shows delivery rates of around 98% and open rates have climbed to ~35.9% across industries. That’s pretty reliable compared to the unpredictable scroll.
It sticks around
A social post can disappear into the feed in minutes. An email sits in the inbox until it’s opened (or deleted). That means more chance of your message being seen when it suits your reader, not when the algorithm decides.
It actually works
Email marketing generates an average ROI of $42 for every $1 spent. And it’s not just theory – according to Litmus, 35% of companies report an ROI of 36:1 or more. That’s serious firepower when you compare it to other channels.
It builds relationships
Email feels more personal. You’re not just shouting into the feed; you’re having a conversation. You can nurture, educate and add value – all while building trust with your audience.
But What About Social Media?
Don’t get me wrong – socials are brilliant for visibility, storytelling and showing up where your audience hangs out. But email plays a different role. It’s the steady, reliable friend who shows up every week, no matter what.
When you mix the two – social to attract, email to nurture – you’ve got a marketing combo that works harder for you than either could on their own.
So, Is Email Really Dead?
Not even close. If anything, it’s the underdog making a big comeback. While everyone else is chasing trends and battling algorithms, you can be quietly showing up in inboxes, building genuine relationships and driving results.
So maybe the better question is… are you giving your email list the attention it deserves?
